Lauvin Dawensky and Dawensley are twin brothers from Palma, a remote village on the mountain of Lagonave Island. On May 26, 2021 their mother Clonese Medes, 34 years old, a farmer with 4 children, was at about 37 weeks of gestation when she felt that she was not doing well and went to a clinic in the village. After evaluation, the doctor said that she was in labor and she was referred to Wesleyen Hospital in the town where she underwent a c-section delivery. The babies were born healthy and after 5 days were discharged from the hospital.
2 months later, a leader in the village visited the mother and found out that one of the babies (Dawensly) looks unhealthy because of his weight and he recommended she to go to FYH for help.
When they arrived at the clinic, we found out that Dawensly was starving. We put him in our milk program. Each Friday the mother brought him to the clinic for weight and milk.
After 6 months in the program, he recovered to his normal weight and was discharged. Now both of the babies are healthy with normal weight.
We are very satisfied with the progress and we continue to check on them every month to keep them healthy.
