Chania Abigaelle Chloe: A Story of Hope and Healing
Chania Abigaelle Chloe was born on February 27, 2024, in Boukalama, a small village far from Anse-a-Galèt on La Gonave Island.
At birth, Abigaelle appeared healthy, and her mother believed everything was normal. However, after a few months, she noticed that Abigaelle’s head was growing larger. Concerned, she took her to the local hospital, where a doctor referred her to a neurosurgeon. Unfortunately, the cost of the consultation was far beyond what the family could afford. Someone at the hospital then recommended that she visit For You Haiti’s clinic for assistance.
At our clinic, Abigaelle was evaluated by our medical staff, and we arranged for her to be sent to the mainland for a CT scan and a neurosurgical evaluation. The CT scan confirmed that she had hydrocephalus. On July 29, 2024, Abigaelle underwent her first surgery at Bernard Mevs Hospital. After her successful procedure, she returned to La Gonave.
Upon her return, she stayed at our surgery house, where our doctor provided post-operative care, always there for our little patients after their mainland surgeries.
Now six months old, Abigaelle is an adorable baby who lights up the room with her smile. She brings joy and hope to everyone she meets! Personally, I feel blessed to be part of the effort to bring life-changing medical care to children like Abigaelle, who otherwise might go without.

Yacinthe Juselaine: Walking for the First Time in Her Life
Yacinthe Juselaine was born on November 20, 2003, in Zèb Ginen, a remote town on La Gonave Island.
Yacinthe was born with severe bilateral clubfoot, a condition that caused her constant pain and made walking extremely difficult. Her mother was desperate, unsure how to help her daughter, as they couldn’t afford the medical care Yacinthe needed. One day, she overheard someone mention an organization in Anse-a-Galèt that helps children in need and was encouraged to take Yacinthe there.
Her mother brought Yacinthe to For You Haiti, where our doctors examined her. Afterward, we referred her to the Adventist Hospital of Haiti for evaluation by an orthopedic surgeon. She had her first surgery on October 27, 2021.
After several successful surgeries, Yacinthe returned home and underwent months of physiotherapy. Now, she has learned to walk! It brings us so much joy to witness this incredible transformation in her life.
Yacinthe’s mother is overjoyed to see her daughter not only walking but also proudly wearing beautiful shoes for the first time in her life. She is deeply grateful to For You Haiti’s supporters for helping them through the most challenging journey of their lives.
