Tevez’s Story

March 1, 2023

Did you know that every single day our drivers cover more than 60% of la Gonave,  bringing hope to the forgotten ones?! This is how we found Tevez, living in Pointe a Raquettes.

In our first contact with the family, the mom didn’t what to even let us see him, because no organization has ever kept their promises to them. “So many organizations have visited, but nothing ever happened, so why should again I trust some other organization?” asked Tevez’s mother to our team.

Without a doubt, For You Haiti is very different from other organizations. Our criteria for taking patients and/or finding children in need of sponsorship for medical care, life-changing surgery, paying school fees, and food are very accurate. We are always trying to be nearby or the closest hope to the forgotten ones.

To come to For You Haiti, you don’t need a referral or special contacts, or wear beautiful clothes – we receive and accept you as you are.

Thanks to one of the community leaders, Jean Wilkens, Tevez’s mother finally accepted help. Tevez is a 16-year-old little boy born with multiple congenital malformations, bilateral anophthalmia, Cerebral Palsy, and others.

Living with his mother, a very strong lady, life hasn’t been too easy for Tevez. Pointe a Raquettes doesn’t offer much to them. Not many economic activities, and no work. Tevez and his mother only live with what family members can provide.

Our first observation was for the cradle that he was sleeping in since he was a baby. And now, 16 years old, he was still sleeping in the same cradle. For You Haiti provided a new bed for Tevez to properly fit in. We also provided a new wheelchair for Tevez.

Tevez is now in FYH monthly program, receiving food and free medical care.
