Jony Pierre – Staff Spotlight:
Behind the scenes, in the ‘kitchen’ (how I love calling it!), working so hard every single day to make everything happen here on the ground at La Gonave is Jony Pierre. We have many people that we could highlight, we have Samuel Michel the FYH President, Our wonderful clinic nurse Ganette Nicolas, Goergie our lovely administrative assistant, Frantzo and Benchy FYH drivers but Jony is our friend, brother, liaison officer, supervisor, translator…. in fact, Jony is the MAN!
Since the beginning of For You Haiti’s operation Jony is there, 24/7, on holidays or normal workdays, sunny days, and rainy days, Jony is always there to help!
Born in a very small town called Dan Griyen of La Gonave, Jony Pierre’s chances of becoming someone in life dropped drastically when his father passed away, he was only 16 years old.
With one arm, no one to pay his very expensive school fees (about 50 USD for one year) Jony Pierre left his mom to go live with an aunty. Almost a year later school was still unaffordable for Jony Pierre because the aunty already had too many obligations to face to be able to help the little boy with education fees, that’s why he decided to come to town for a better life and that’s where he met Samuel Michel and Alana Kaye; President and Founder of For You Haiti respectively.
This is where an amazing story unfolded! Jony Pierre’s life drastically changed course and his character strengthened to become the incredible individual he is today! Our team would not be the same without him.
