Without Power, Water, or Air, For You Haiti’s Team Ensures 199 Healthy Births Against All Odds

November 21, 2023

In a land devoid of prenatal care and burdened by staggering costs, La Gonave witnessed the dire consequences— avoidable birth deformations, premature deliveries, and mothers battling life-threatening conditions like high blood pressure and preeclampsia.

But amid this crisis, For You Haiti dared to dream and took action with our Prenatal Mobile Clinics, a beacon of hope for expectant mothers in the unreachable corners of four distant regions. In a place where access to free ultrasounds and vital prenatal care was a distant dream, For You Haiti became the sole ray of light.

Yet, every triumph faced a battlefield. Running a mobile clinic in a war-torn land posed unimaginable challenges for our locally-led team. Our team required high-functioning, off-road vehicles in a land where they’re a rarity. Arriving after arduous 2-3 hour journeys, the team often found sites devoid of power, air circulation, food, or clean water but filled with women in need.

Undeterred, our native team knows to always come armed with generators, medical supplies, sustenance for the team, and unwavering determination. At each visit, our team tirelessly works for 12-hour days, ensuring no mother is without care.

The mission isn’t easy, but it is the lifeline for the women in our community. Our dream? Every expectant mother in La Gonave receives proper care, and education even before conception, reducing congenital malformations and preventing future medical crises.

After a year of tireless effort, our mobile clinics touched the lives of 199 mothers and babies, witnessing a miraculous ZERO birth defects. This is our journey—a testament to resilience, dedication, and the unwavering belief that every woman deserves a healthy start for her child. Join us in making dreams of comprehensive maternal care a reality. #ForYouHaiti #PrenatalCare #AgainstAllOdds #TalesofTriumph
