Meet Dr. Junior

February 1, 2023

Doctor Junior is one of the doctors at FYH. He’s appreciated and loved by the whole community of La Gonave. With his bright and contagious smile, he’s a friend to everyone. He’s a devoted and dedicated Doctor, always available to help FYH children and other people in the communities who come to him. Dr. Junior leads the prenatal clinic program at FYH, a program where vulnerable pregnant women come for free check-ups, medicine, ultrasounds, and follow-up.

On the first Tuesday of each month, Dr. Junior travels to Grande Source or Tikalbas, two remotes village of La Gonave, to take care of pregnant women who don’t have any access to prenatal care. The FYH team feels incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful, strong, and loving doctor leading this program.

Professional background

Doctor Junior was born at Carrefour, a commune of Port-Au-Prince. He was very smart, bright, and passionate about learning as a child. He went to high school at Carrefour and after he traveled to Cuba to study medicine. After he graduated from medical school he came back to Haiti. Once there, he moved to LA Gonave for his social services at the Saint Louis clinic of Pointe, the second commune of La Gonave. Once he finished with Social Services, he was hired at Wesleyan Hospital, the only hospital of La Gonave, where he spent two years. From there he went back to Port-Au-Prince, where he was working in his private clinic. But after two years in Port-Au-Prince, his love for the community of La Gonave drew him to come back.

A passion to help people in need

Dr. Junior states, “Since I was a child I always wanted to help the most vulnerable people and that’s one of the reasons why I decided to study medicine. I don’t want to see people suffering. When I met the For You Haiti staff and heard about their mission, I knew that’s is the best place to be. At FYH, I’m doing what I always wanted to do, help the most vulnerable people.”
