For You Haiti’s Medical Clinic & Care House

July 8, 2022

Our Care House has been located in Terra Rouge, about a 20-minute drive from the main town of Anse-a-Galets.  We originally decided on this location because of its quiet setting, away from the hustle and bustle of life in town.  However as gas prices continue to rise, and our patients are requiring daily and sometimes twice daily visits from our doctors or nurse, this has become a significant cost.

We have now secured a house just steps from FYH’s school and our medical program office to serve as our new Care House location.  This will easily allow our medical team access to the patients throughout the day and night without the need to travel. This location will also act as our in-town clinic.  The house has space for several medical beds and a triage room.

When our patients return to La Gonâve after surgery, they are seen by a doctor to evaluate their post-op condition before returning to their homes.  Many of our patients live outside of the main town of Anse-A-Galets,  therefore providing them with a safe and clean place to stay and recover is critical.  We have had patients stay in our care house for as long as 8 months based on the complexity of their condition and the need to be close to medical care.  We are proud to offer the families not only an opportunity to have a life-changing surgery but to provide the after-care that is critically important to their future health.  This new location will offer many benefits to our patients and staff.

This month was the official opening of our new facility!

Your ongoing monthly investment in The Seed allows us to partner with the community, not just to help one person but to evaluate the greatest needs every day and have the power to contribute to solutions without hesitation.  We want to thank everyone for becoming a partner with us in this journey of better, education and healthcare for La Gonâve Haiti.  Inspiring stories are unfolding every week and we are thrilled to be able to share them with you on a regular basis.
