Bourdeau

For You Haiti has three team members living and working in the capital of Haiti and main island, Port-au-Prince. Bourdeau is our Operations Manager and he oversees all of the patients’ travels while on the mainland. He coordinates with the For You Haiti team everyday as well as the hospitals and doctors. He also checks in on the families multiple times a day. His passion for our patients stems from a personal place. Bourdeau knows what it is like to be medically vulnerable and what it feels like to have an opportunity of a life-altering surgery.
Bourdeau was severely injured in the 2010 earthquake when part of his house collapsed on him and two of his children. Bourdeau was left lying in the yard outside of an overwhelmed hospital for almost two weeks after the earthquake with critical injuries. A US Navy medical ship arrived in Haiti to assist with the injured and Bourdeau was taken aboard to receive medical care. His leg was crushed and he required surgery to insert a rod in his leg. He subsequently had several surgeries on the ship and it took him approximately 2 years to recover.
His love for the children and families of For You Haiti is unparalleled. He ensures the safety and well being of all of our patients, alleviating their fears and concerns and acting as an advocate for them everyday, making sure they have a phone to communicate with their family back on La Gonâve, safe accommodations and travel, food and all needed medications. He even brings our patients home cooked meals as they struggle to recover from major surgery! Bourdeau is a strong leader, and has developed relationships with key hospital staff which is a huge benefit to managing our patients’ care. For You Haiti is immensely grateful for the dedication and leadership Bourdeau provides everyday.
Jerry

Jerry also works in Port-au-Prince and officially joined the For You Haiti team in January 2022. He has taught himself English and teaches English to children. Jerry is a welcoming friendly face that greets our patients and families and helps them navigate the hospital system. Jerry works specifically with Adventist Hospital where all of our Orthopedic surgeries happen. From La Gonâve, the families have to take a 5 hour sailboat trip to Léogâne on the mainland and then endure a drive to Adventist. This is a very tough trip and it is not the quickest way but it is the only safe way to get our patients to Adventist Hospital. Jerry’s presence is very much appreciated and necessary! When lab tests are ordered for our patients, Jerry gets them to the right departments and makes everything easier for the families. He speaks with the doctors and relays information back to the medical team in order to help guide families with the proper post operative care. Jerry is a very faithful man and he prays with the families which provides them with the comfort and strength they need during a vulnerable time. We are very grateful for Jerry’s commitment to our patients and their medical journeys.
Rodlin

With so much instability, simply driving around Port-au-Prince is a major security concern for our patients and families. Without drivers that we can trust, we wouldn’t be able to get our patients to the hospitals in Port-au-Prince.
Rodlin is brave, smart, and makes each For You Haiti family’s safety his number one priority. Rodlin is committed to each patient so deeply because he himself has been captured by the gangs in two separate instances and was able to navigate his own freedom both times. He treats our patients and their families like his own and risks it all to see each medical miracle through.
